Another awesome short story that uses the Black Hill wolves as part of it. The Black Hills Wolves series is a loosely connected series by several different authors that has some connection with The Black Hills pack. This story offers glimpses into what the pack was and what the pack is becoming. Favorite bartender Gee is the main pack character that interacts with Mitchell and Christy. Mitchell and Christy are very young when they unexpectedly meet in a dark alley. They are separated by 4 years before they meet again. Christy’s way of remeeting Mitchell is strange and even she admits she went about it in the wrong way. Mitchell is more than he thinks he is. He is totally likeable. Though I wasn’t real thrilled with Christy and her methods by the end of the story I understood her and was disappointed the story ended. I was really connecting with the characters and wanted to learn more about their lives. Hopefully more glimpses into their futures will appear in future stories. I really enjoyed these young characters and the events that shaped their lives.
Mitchell is a wolf hiding in human society. His parents and sister died about a year ago. He uses MMA to take out his anger and is seen as an up and coming fighter. While taking a run through an industrial section of town, he sees a young boy climbing out of a dumpster. Though he doesn’t immediately stop, he does return only to find some men beating the boy. Mitchell saves the boy and calls his social worker. He doesn’t learn that the boy is a girl until she is taken away in an ambulance. Neither is able to contact the other for over 4 years. Is there a connection?
Mitchell Waya was born to rage in a cage. Every time he competes in a mixed martial arts match, he brings two secret weapons to the ring—a raging heart and the blood of a wolf. When the beast within explodes, no man stands a chance. Scaling the heights of an international career, he’s not prepared for the tragedy and scandal that overtakes him.
At fourteen, Christy was abducted and abused by a brutal cult of survivalist. In a brave act of defiance, she attempts to escape but finds herself facing execution in a dark alley. When Mitchell appears from the shadows like an avenging angel to rescue her, she catches a glimpse of the protective wolf’s fury. They form a brief but intense bond but then Fate pushes them apart.
Four years pass. Fortunes change. Concerned about Mitchell’s welfare, Christy reaches out, but her kind deed puts her squarely in a killer’s sights, and only the courage of a wolf can save her.
