This is the third book in a trilogy about three girlfriends who fall in love with three men from their past. The men are all cousins. You do not have to read the first three books to enjoy this one. They all stand alone though there are scenes and mentions about previous happenings. The characters are well thought out and fun to read about. This is a straight romance, meaning that there is no mystery, no secondary story, just a romance with all it’s ups and downs. You know immediately that the couple is going to get together and even when things aren’t going smoothly, you are positive that it will all work out. There are no big surprises. Yet, it was fun to read as sometimes unassuming sweet romances are just the perfect fit. This story was a perfect fit and I enjoyed the stress free flow of a romance that took years to develop. The spats between Dillon and Kit seemed to be more habit that in spite. You could tell each one was a force to be reckoned with and together they would be unbeatable. It was just getting them to see that fact. This is a really nice romance that I would think would be perfect for a lazy day.
Dillon never expected to see Kit in the middle of an accident scene in the middle of a blizzard. Even more unexpected was to discover that she just delivered a baby! Kit is a psychiatrist not a gyn! Of course, Dillon isn’t a gyn either but at least he is a physical medical doctor! And so starts another round of Kit and Dillon disagreeing. Who’s patient is she? This and other questions continue throughout this story until Dillon and Kit figure out the ultimate answer, which is?
Dillon Alexander has been Kit Derby’s nemesis since third grade, when he beat her in the school spelling bee. They’ve been competing ever since, driving each other to be the best at everything from science fairs to bake sales. While working together one night during their senior year, they stopped bickering long enough to share an emotionally charged kiss. But a tragedy that same night left them both racked with guilt, driving Dillon out of town and leaving Kit determined to keep her distance.
Now an emergency room physician, Dillon has returned to their hometown of Chance, Nebraska. Soon he and Kit fall back into old habits, sparring in public while trying to stay out of each other’s arms. But when a blizzard traps them overnight at Kit’s grandmother’s farmhouse, the real competition begins: Who will be the first to give in to the feelings they’ve denied for a decade?
