Desi is looking for her twin sister, Ari. They were separated after being kidnapped by the Comanche and their parents killed. Desi married Caine, a member of Hells Eight, a group of men who grew up together and support each other. Each member carries a letter written by Desi for Ari and each member is actively looking for her.
Tracker has heard rumors of a blonde and is going to check into them even though he has a bad feeling about this trip. His twin brother, Shadow wants to come along, but Tracker won’t hear of it. If it’s Ari, he’ll have enough problems getting her back to Hells Eight.
Ari doesn’t remember anything before about 8 months ago. She’s living with an older couple who are her baby’s grandparents. She’s been told her beloved husband died and she hasn‘t ever questioned that. She has spells where she doesn’t remember what she does but she’s a protective mother. Tracker’s going to have his hands full to get Ari to come with him willingly.
This is the fourth book in a series about the men who make up Hells Eight. You do not need to read the first two books to enjoy this one but they sure do sound as if they would be extremely interesting. I haven’t read them yet but they sure are on my to buy list!
This book is more than just a romance novel or even a story about Tracker and Ari.
Desi and Ari come from a wealthy family. The lawyer that takes care of the family is out to kill the women so he can have control of the money. He will stop at nothing to do this and has contacts in high places to help him.
Though Shadow is told to not come with Tracker, he seems to be there when Tracker needs him the most. Shadow is a very interesting character and I sure hope his story is next because he ends up in a rocky place! I had hoped this book would at least give a clue or two on what will happen but it just leaves you hanging.
Given that there are several subplots going on at the same time, I was impressed on how well they all became intertwined and worked so well together without feeling forced. It also gave this story a multi-layered feel which only enhanced my interest in it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and plan on finding the first two books to read. I can’t wait to find out what happens to Shadow. Yes, I really got involved with these lovable characters and can’t wait to learn more about them.
Fantastic American west historical that brings action and adventure to what could have been just a plain old romance. Super good job on characters and situations so that you can’t wait to see what happens next. Now, if the book were just a little longer……
Before his trade became his name, "Tracker" Ochoa was a scrawny Mestizo runaway. Now as fearsome as he once was frightened, he's joined the notorious Hell's Eight…and they have a job for him.
He must rescue kidnapped heiress Ari Blake and deliver her safely to the Hell's Eight compound—by any means necessary. Turns out that includes marrying her, if he means to escort her and her infant daughter across the Texas Territory. Tracker hadn't bargained on a wife—especially such a fair, blue-eyed beauty. But the erotic pleasures of the marriage bed more than make up for the surprise.
Tracker's well-muscled bronze skin and dark, dangerous eyes are far more exciting than any of Ari's former debutante dreams. In the light of day, though, his deep scars and brooding intensity terrify her. But he's her husband and she's at his mercy. With the frontier against them and mercenary bandits at their heels, Ari fears she'll never feel safe again.
Tracker, too, remembers what fear feels like. Though he burns to protect Ari, to keep her for himself always, he knows that money, history—and especially the truth—can tear them apart.
