Reality keeps knocking at the door with this western romance where a bad boy hits rock bottom. Family ties become stained and attraction may turn to love as Cash and Paige share a house revisiting their past while not planning for a future. Some parts of this story will give you a warm fuzzy while others you can see a disaster waiting to happen. Through it all, you fall in love with all of the characters and if you haven’t read the previous books in this series, your curiosity will be peaked. New beginnings bring new problems and solutions not previously thought of. Watching Cash and Paige is like watching an electrical storm; you’re never sure where the lightening will strike but where ever it is, it is sure to be shocking. The ending was a bit of a given but overall, I really enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more about the Montgomery family.
Cash was on top of his game, just about ready to winning his third bull riding title, when disaster struck and his career is gone. With nothing to look forward to, Cash turns to drinking which has his family worried. Paige has been following Cash’s career since she was a teen. On her 18th birthday, she gave him her virginity only to have him walk away. Now, she’s helping him into her brother’s drunk room wondering if there is anything she can do. In a twist of fate, Cash and Paige end up living in the same house. Each wants the other out but will either win that battle?
Real bad boys can grow up to be real good men.
Hit hard by the death of her parents, Paige Ryan needs to figure out what to do with her life. She moves to Whispering Springs, Texas, to be near her step-brother. But just as she starts to get her life on track, the last man she ever wanted to see again sends it right back off the rails.
Cash Montgomery was on the cusp of having it all. Three bull riding titles, fame, fortune and respect from his family. Until a bad bull leaves him injured, angry and searching for comfort at the bottom of a bottle. With nowhere to go, he moves into his sister-in-law’s old ranch house in Whispering Springs—which he’s surprised to find already occupied.
As Cash rebuilds the dilapidated home and Paige starts out on her medical career, their old friendship begins to reemerge and sparks are ignited. Paige knows that Cash is nothing but a heartache waiting to happen. But maybe this bad boy has grown up to be a real good man?
Warning: Watch out for falling lumber, falling in holes, and falling for the wrong guy…again. You can leave your hard hat on.
