Take Me, Break Me

Pierced Hearts

I’m a huge fan of Cari Silverwood and jumped at the chance to read Take Me, Break Me even though I had been warned that it is much darker than her usual writing. That warning was a good one as it is much darker but Ms Silverwood’s unique writing style comes out as she takes her readers into a fantasy that didn’t progress the way the instigator expected. Each chapter is either Jodie’s point of view or Klaus’s point of view. And this allows the reader to know that this is, or at least started as, consensual and could be stopped if Jodie truly wanted it to be. However, expect more hardcore and sadistic BDSM than is normal in an Ms Silverwood story.

Jodie is trying to stay alive and is grasping for an idea to give her some financial security. To that end, she approaches Klaus, a good friend and previous boyfriend. She wants to do a documentary based on a capture fantasy, similar to ones found in many of her erotic romance eBooks. Klaus somewhat reluctantly agrees to go along with her idea only to find himself enjoying exploring some sadistic tendencies that he didn’t know he had. However, how far is too far and will Klaus and Jodie know when to stop?

This story isn’t one that will appeal to everyone. Some things that happen in the story will be way past what many people see as their comfort zone. Many times the line between consent and abuse is blurred. But, as usual Ms Silverwood does an excellent job and the story and it’s characters will draw you in. You may find it hard to put down this book even as you are going yuck.

Book Blurb for Take Me, Break Me

Jodie is scraping the barrel trying to stay afloat. An idea arrives that could rescue her finances and bring her together in a kinky way with a man she never gave up on. She's terrified and fascinated, and tempted as hell.

Capture fantasies rule her eBook. Re-enacting one in a documentary would surely be irresistible viewing to millions of women?

But Jodie and Klaus discover that underneath an ordinary man dark desires may lurk. What will win in the end? The man and lover, or the monster?

Warning: Capture fantasy; dubious consent; anal play; M/f as well as one m/f/f/m scene; BDSM themes including caning, spanking, bondage, and needle play. Also contains one beginner Dom who is exploring sadism but is still working out how and when to stop.
