Straddling the Line

A Play-by-Play Novel, #8

This series seems to get better and better with each book. However, don’t panic if you haven’t read this series, just pick this book up and start reading. While characters from previous books do make appearances in this one, each book stands alone. In this book characters learn to follow their heart, professionally and personally. However, Trevor doesn’t want Haven to get too close due to a secret he’s been keeping his whole life. When the secret comes to light, things explode making this characters even more real. I love that not only do the characters have very human flaws but their reaction reflect honest reactions. It’s so easy to just look at the surface but Ms Burton gets into the nitty gritty making her characters and worlds come to life. You don’t even have to like sports to love these awesome books. I love that Trevor and Haven don’t just jump into bed and that they have a long standing relationship. This is not to say that once they do move from friends to lovers that the scenes aren’t hot because things definitely are steamy. This book is a terrific story on so many levels and an absolute must read.

Trevor has been friends with Haven’s parents since college when they were his dorm parents. When her father dies, Haven doesn’t seem to be able to focus on her new dream job of sportscaster. Haven’s mother asks Trevor to help and he does by arranging for Haven to do an in depth interview with him. What started as a job though quickly changes into something more. Can they keep the two aspects of their lives separate? And, can Trevor keep his secret from Haven?
