Childhood friends who evolve into more is some of the theme in this hockey romance. Each of the main characters, Jude and Zoey, remember things a bit differently but they both remember being very attracted to each other. Each chapter shows the progression from a chance meeting 10 years after they had last seen each other to where they are meant to be. Chapters alternate on whose view you are reading with the name of the character right at the beginning. I really enjoyed this as there was a lot going on in both characters’ lives plus Jude’s sisters and Zoey’s brother increased the story’s complexity. Flashbacks to their youth enhanced their views. I truly loved that this story was very well rounded and included real life. This really is a story where it is super easy to fall in love with it. It is part of a series but don’t let that stop you from reading this book! It didn’t me and I’m so glad I did.
Zoey couldn’t believe she ran into one of the girls she use to babysit in Maine all the way in California. Not only that but that her sisters were in town visiting. A date for brunch was definitely in order. Zoey didn’t know that their older brother, Jude, was going to make a surprise appearance. Nor, did she know that her soon to be ex-husband was going to cancel her credit card. Suddenly, Zoey is without a place to live and struggling to get started in a new job. Jude doesn’t know why but the attraction he had as a teen is just as strong as ever. Can he convince Zoey to take a chance on him again? Can he win her trust? And, how can he help?
He's used to winning, but now he's playing with his heart.
Jude Braddock. Hockey god. That's how everyone sees him now. But when they were teenagers, Zoey knew him as the kid who didn't have enough nerve to make a move on their one and only disastrous date. Seems he doesn't have that problem anymore, though. According to the rumors, he's with a different woman every night. After a rough divorce, the last thing Zoey needs is more heartbreak. But Jude's cocky, playful attitude is mighty hard to resist.
Jude knows he isn't built for long-term relationships. But he's getting sick of women pounding on his door in the middle of the night looking for a rematch. When Zoey comes back into his life, it's like fate has given him a second chance. He'll do anything to make her happy again. Is this what love looks like? He has no idea. All he knows for sure is that this time, he's playing for keeps.
