Off the Map

This is an action-packed story with a cunning thief and a not very nice drug lord. The story starts off and quickly grabs your interest. After all, it’s not every day that a pretty girl plants a stolen necklace on a stodgy professor at a reception in front of armed guards. There are plenty of chase scenes that follow and one mishap after another. Gun shots are taken, and a boat explodes as Harper works on keeping one step ahead of the drug lord willing to kill for what he wants. While the characters and the adventures are fun to read about, I have to say that they didn’t feel very realistic so don’t look to hard into that aspect of the story. It’s fun and a bit silly though there are definitely serious parts. The romance is slow to develop but it works within the story. I still haven’t made up my mind on the ending, but I will say that it is a happy for now. Perhaps that means these characters will be seen again.

This job was supposed to be a quick grab with little security, but Harper quickly discovered that it was the exact opposite. She’s going to have to use every bit of her skills to get out of this predicament alive. Spying a good looking studious looking man on the edge of the crowd gives her an idea, if she can keep the guards for eyeing her suspiciously. Dropping her stolen goods with the stranger, Harper takes off into the night. Can she collect what she stole without getting caught or will the goods be found before she does?

Book Blurb for Off the Map

Her last job won't be a day at the beach.

Harper Barton has one reason and one reason only to be in Colombia, and it isn't for fun in the sun. As an expert in "acquiring" antiquities, she's been tasked with collecting a valuable necklace from a gala. The problem? A drug kingpin wants the piece for himself, and won't let a cat burglar get in his way.

Diego Morales is in Colombia doing research for his next book. The mild-mannered professor was expecting dusty books and boring lecture halls, not a beautiful woman sweeping him onto the dance floor and planting a kiss on him before being chased out of the building by armed guards.

Harper and Diego find themselves neck-deep in trouble when they're kidnapped by the drug kingpin, but things go from bad to worse when they both go overboard and end up lost in the middle of the Colombian jungle. Can they stay alive long enough to get home? Can they stop fighting long enough to realize there's more than just jungle heat simmering between them?

Off the Map is high-stakes adventure with spark, snark, and plenty of danger.
