I absolutely love Lexi Carmichael. She is a geek that knows how to rock it. Though this book is part of a series, you can read and thoroughly enjoy it without having read previous books but you really will want to read the previous books. This story is more violent than previous stories but reflects the realities of today’s world full of quiet political maneuvers behind the scenes and terrorists showing up when you least expect them. Lexi has a love interest with the mysterious Slash but her relationship with Elvis is in the mist of change and Lexi isn’t sure what to do about it. Also, Lexi’s new assignment has her going back to high school pretending to be one of the students. Unfortunately, high school hasn’t changed much since Lexi graduated and bullies still roam the hallways. This fast paced story had me glued to each page as well as had me up way past my bedtime. I just had to read one more page! Yes, it’s just that intense. I finished this story seeing Lexi growing up a bit more, introduced to some awesome teenage characters and seeing a shift in some relationships. This is a great story. Lexi is prefect……in this story, not so much in her life. I can’t wait for the next book.
Young looking Lexi can pass for a high school student which is why she finds herself back in high school trying to find the head of a group of students that hack into the school computer systems. It’s going to be hard as most of the students have the ability and a lot of the teachers forget about computer safety. Lexi hated high school when she really was a student. Is she going to like it any more grown up? And, she also is trying to figure out her relationship with Slash. She’s never had a boyfriend before. What is she suppose to do? How does this work?
Fun and fantastic. Lexi is one of a kind and definitely a character to be watching. She is making being a geek cool and interesting.
A Geek's Worst Nightmare: Going Back to High School
Returning to high school is not something I ever wanted to do over—it was awful the first time around. So why do I have to go back as part of a new undercover assignment? Because the universe loves playing jokes on me, obviously.
I've been ordered to go all 21 Jump Street and track down the students who are breaking into the computer system, changing grades, and causing all kinds of havoc. Although I'm not thrilled about my new gig, at least it gives me something to do other than worry over the fact that I now have a boyfriend. And no freaking idea what to get him for Christmas.
Or it did give me something else to worry about, until I stumbled across a more sinister threat. I was shocked to find distinct traces of a group of international hackers inside the network. Why would dangerous cyber mercenaries be interested in a high school in the middle of Washington, D.C.? What exactly have I gotten myself into?
Don't miss Lexi's first case in No One Lives Twice!
