No Place to Run

A KGI Novel Series

Sam Kelly met Sophie Lundgren while he was on an undercover mission with his family’s company, KGI or Kelly Group International. He was in Mexico to take down a drug lord and never expected to encounter someone he would consider having an intense affair with. Though he tells Sophie he probably won’t return, he couldn’t help himself, only to find Sophie gone.

Sophie was working as a waitress at a seedy bar when Sam met her, but that was just a cover. Her father, Alex Mouton sent her to find out what ever she could from Sam and his group. Alex knew KGI was after him and wanted as much information about their operation as he could get, even if it meant using his daughter.

Now, 5 months later, Sophie finds herself on the run after killing her father and stealing a key to a vault that holds everything concerning her father’s business. Her uncle, Tomas has men following her everywhere and though she doesn’t want to bring trouble to Sam, she feels she has no other choice. Her unexpected pregnancy is slowing her down.

Though Sophie does finally make it to Sam, neither trusts the other. There have been too many half truths. Can they figure out a way to keep everyone safe or will it all fall apart?

This is the second book in Maya Banks’ KGI series. You do not need to read the first book to thoroughly enjoy this one. Except for a few brief scenes, the main characters from The Darkest Hour are not involved in this story. However, the rest of the Kelly clan is alive and active in it!

The chemistry between Sophie and Sam is intense. They want so much to believe in the other person but are unsure how far they can trust them. Just when one thinks they can share something important or believe in what they are being told, something happens to shake that trust. The shock and hurt comes across the page so well that you have to regroup yourself before continuing to read. Unfortunately, Sophie and Sam don’t have the time to do the same.

Fast action is the name of the game. Things don’t seem to slow down from start to finish. Sophie starts off in a deadly chase and she doesn’t dare slow down! Sam and his family get swept up in the action without much chance to think it through as ma gets kidnapped and an agent gets killed. Stepping in is the government who wants Mouton as much as the KGI does. If they don’t stay out of the way, they may get run over! That is, unless they join forces.

I’m really enjoying this KGI series. It’s more action packed than Ms Banks’ sweet series but has the same fantastic emotional pull and the same sensual sexual scenes. That’s not to say that it’s a rehash because it isn’t. It is fresh and unique. There are sexy guys and a few smart ass girls. No cookie cutter characters but each as different as they can be.

If you’re looking for a sexual, sensual romantic suspense story, look no further. You don’t want to miss this action.
