This is part of a series about 4 sisters that live in Stardust, TX and a magical hope chest. While, at least in this story, the hope chest and its magic is not a major part of the story, the magic of love is alive and well. And, love is a major theme throughout this story….love of a parent, a sibling, a friend and more. This story is complex as it meshes a couple issues into one story…….what is Kasha going to do about the half-sister she never knew about and what is she going to do about the attraction she feels towards Alex and what is she going to do about her job. However, this also reflects life as how often is only one thing going on at a time. This story feels realistic and possible. The characters aren’t perfect but are human. It’s so easy to see how this story could happen making it impossible to put it down. Everything is done exceptionally well. And, though this book is part of a series, it definitely stands alone. You may want to know what happened in the previous books after reading this one but it’s not necessary. You may also want to know what happens next and if there are 5 drawers in the hope chest and only one sister left, what is in the last drawer. This is an easy book to love.
Kasha is thrilled with her new job in Dallas with the major league baseball team, the Gunslingers. This chance will open up more opportunities for her and even allow her to have her half-sister live with her. So, why is she putting it all on the line when she speaks out about the treatment for relief pitcher Axel Richmond? Axel doesn’t know why Kasha is speaking out but he’s more than willing to try his recovery her way before surgery. It doesn’t take long before the spark of attraction hits both of them. Kasha knows she can’t act on it as it isn’t ethical. But, Axel is very tempting. Will she give in? What about her job?
