Lila Luminosity and the Lipstick Murders

Humor, Science Fiction, Mystery, thriller, futuristic

Lila Luminosity is a reporter at a newspaper and hot dog stand. She needs to have a frequent chocolate fix and loves to bargain shop. When her boss is killed and found with a hot dog up her ass along with a great big kill mark on one check, Lila comes in contact with Buster Balls, a lead crime investigator.
Buster has been assigned to find out who did the killing but he finds himself attracted to Lila who is not only a reporter but a former comic. As they team up, they find themselves interviewing comics. A few more food murders happen with different courses as the main event. Is there a connection between the victims? Will they find the killer before desert?
This book is set in the future but heavily uses current trendy things like Coos shoes and Hershey Kisses. Different groups have their own planets such as the police department and Italy. The galaxy is full of malls and combination business similar to the newspaper hot dog stand. You’re not sure exactly what era you’re in as references jump all over the place.
Juvenile humor is a major basis of this story. The most obvious “joke” is the hero’s name of Buster Balls. Several very lame jokes are given using just that name. Needless to say, killings with food stuffed in someone’s butt goes along with the rest of the “humor” and if that isn’t your type of humor, don’t bother to read this book.
What I would call this book is Valley Girl meets sci-fi with the humor of slapstick. It’s definitely different... When it comes to comedy you have to find the right reader.
