Claire is on her first mission for her nation, the one that created her when the airship she is traveling on is blown from the sky. All she knows about her mission is she's to kill a man named Theo at a large ball. So, when she is found along with a few survivors from the crash by a powerful man named Theo, she wonders if this is her target because if it is, she's in trouble.
Theo doesn't know why this beautiful woman was on that airship but he does know that he's attracted to her. He's shocked though when it's discovered that she's a frankenstruct, a person/creature that is cloned from several things, not just one person. Theo knows the law states that frankenstructs are not human and will be euthanized. He also knows that he's going to do everything in his power to change that law because he can't imagine his life without Claire.
Claire is thrilled to be treated like a real person but she also knows once Theo learns the truth about her and her mission, he will have her killed. Can she keep her secret from him? She's put to the test when she discovers that her handler survived the crash and her mission is still a go!
Ms Silverwood is still a relatively new author however her stories show great promise that she's going to soon be a favorite.
Claire is probably the most fleshed out character in this story. Her thoughts and feelings are expressed so you can almost feel the conflict she is experiencing. Theo is not as well done. At many points, his head of security, Dankyo, had a good point, it was as if Theo was thinking with his other head and not the one he should be using. Theo was portrayed as being a high ranking officer who should have known to heavily question anyone from an enemy ship!
But what the characters lacked in depth, they made up in their sex scenes, and there were plenty of those. These scenes were not only written extremely well but they were extremely graphic. Theo likes BDSM and while Claire starts out a virgin, she doesn't stay one for long as Theo introduces her to sensations she had only dreamed about.
These two conflicting views have me torn as to how to rate this book. I felt as if the storyline wasn't as well developed as it could have been. Yet, I know the sex scenes were done so well that if that is what you are wanting in an erotic book, you will be more than satisfied. I guess it's all in what you are looking for.
With that thought, I can safely say that I look forward to reading more of Ms Silverwood's stories. She has a unique and different style that I like. While I would like to see a storyline with more depth, I'm also sure that this will come in time. Personally, I think she has the hard part of writing this type of book down pat. So, keep an eye out of Ms Silverwood's work and give this one a try. There is more than just sex but there is a lot of sex to get through to find the story.
Raised from childhood as an assassin, Claire finds her world knocked off kilter when Theo Kevonis, a rich, ex-Air Corp nobleman, rescues her from an airship crash. Being a soldier of a hostile nation she cannot reveal her identity, but Theo sinks his steely Dom fingers into her heart and soul, showing her the pleasures to be found in surrendering to his touch. Captivated, Claire cannot help but bind herself in lie after lie rather than risk losing the one man who’s ever loved her.
When her loathsome commander returns from the dead, her deceit is uncovered. Somehow, Claire must find a way to win back Theo's trust and destroy the man who threatens them both.
Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: anal play/intercourse, BDSM theme and elements, violence.
