Jodi Thomas’s books are always a treat because you end up with more than one story. She intertwines at least two stories into one in every book. One part is always about Lauren, Lucas, Tim and Reid. The other part is always about an unlikely couple and in this book it is Blade and Dakota. Now, this may seem confusing but it isn’t. All the parts fit together wonderfully and seamlessly. It flows as it is suppose it. Chapters alternate between whose point of view they are in but that only adds interest to the story. There is a whole series of books set in Crossroads Texas so characters from previous stories will be seen in this one. However, don’t worry if you haven’t read any of the other books because you really don’t have to in order to thoroughly enjoy this one. Everything that happened that you really need to know about is brought up in this story. Now, besides the two stories there is also a plot that intertwines them. In this one, it’s a mystery that has an interesting ending. And, as with many mysteries, expect death, mayham and lots of suspects. But, I truly think one of the things that makes these stories so special are the family and friend relationships. These are exceptional. This is one book where I’m not sure what genre to should be classified as romance, mystery, or woman’s fiction. Regardless of where you classify it, it’s just plain fun to read and I always can’t wait for the next book to come out.
Blade has inherited some land from a father he never knew. He’s not sure what to expect but he sure wasn’t expecting what he found; a rundown house that you have to get to by a rickety bridge. He knows he’s not staying there but he didn’t expect for the bridge to fall down while going across it. Dakota is on her way home when she finds a man in Indigo Lake. She stops to help but soon discovers that he’s a Hamilton. Her family has been feuding with his for more than 100 years. She’ll help him but she wants him gone! Lauren isn’t really satisfied with her life. She thought she’d be out of Crossroad, TX by now. Yet, she’s never comfortable anywhere else besides here. When Reid, Lucas and Tim all show up in town at the same time, she only gets more confused. It doesn’t take long before the 4 are in a mystery that is way past what they have ever dealt with before. Even Lauren’s father, the sheriff has to call in for help!
Two families long divided by an ancient feud. Can a powerful love finally unite them?
Blade Hamilton is the last of his line. He's never even heard of Crossroads, Texas, until he inherits land there. Riding in on his vintage Harley-Davidson, Blade finds a weathered ranch house, an empty prairie and a dark river that cuts a decisive path between the Hamiltons' land and that of their estranged neighbors.
When Dakota helps a stranger on the roadside, she isn't prepared for the charisma of the man on the motorbike—or for the last name he bears: Hamilton, of her family's sworn enemies, representing all she's been raised to loathe. The problem is, it looks like Blade is in town to stay, and there's something about his wolf-gray eyes she just can't ignore.
Lauren Brigman feels adrift. Unhappy in work and unlucky in love, she knows she ought to be striving for more, but she's never truly at peace unless she's at home in Crossroads. If the wider world can't satisfy her, is home truly where her heart is?
