A sense of adventure leads Elsinore into more than she expected in this humorous historical romance. I absolutely loved Elsinore’s love of life even though she does get into more trouble than most titled women. Her character is charming and fresh. Opposite her is Quin. He follows society’s rules and so far it has someone trying to kill him. His character is a wonderful combination of wanting to do what is correct and what he truly wants. Secrets are kept and then found out with a variety of different consequences. From beginning to end I was never sure where this story was going to go and the ending was a great surprise. As for the training methods, they were unique and not exactly geared for training a husband. With this as the first book in a series, I’m really looking forward for more books.
The Story: All Elsinore wants is Lord Byron’s signature but as she looks through all the rooms at the ball she is attending she is unable to find him. She does find an empty room with a model guillotine. While checking it out, she gets her hand stuck. Quin is just looking for a quiet room for a minute when he walks into the one with Elsinore. Unable to ignore her request for help, he sets out to figure out how to release her without chopping off her hand. One thing leads to another, and when they are discovered by Elsinore’s father and the ball host, they are lying on the floor together sharing a kiss. The choice is marriage or duel. Which one will be chosen?
When Elsinore Cosgrove escapes a ballroom in search of adventure, she has no idea it will lead to a hasty marriage. The youngest daughter of a duke, all she wants is to make her own choices. Now she's engaged to an infuriating, handsome Scottish baron who doesn't even know her name! Using all her feminine wiles, along with advice gleaned from a training guide for hunting hounds, Elsinore is determined to mold her baron into the husband she wants.
Quin Graham is a man with many secrets. If another scandal can be avoided with a sham marriage, so be it. Only his fiancée isn't at all what he's expecting, and the clumsy, curious, and clever Elsinore refuses to be set aside. For reasons he's unwilling to explain, the last thing Quin needs is to fall for his wife.
