The highlands of Scotland are a place where alliances between clans are necessary and women are pawns in the political games of men. This historical story is set during a time of rebuilding after Scotland has had her clans fighting against each other. War, intrigue and marriage makes for an interesting mixture as promises are made and alliances formed. But, what is the truth and does it matter as peace is balanced against revenge. Ms Wine puts her readers into this time with not only accurate descriptions but with awesome dialogs and realistic situations. You feel as though you are there. This is part of a series of stories but you don’t need to read the previous books to enjoy this one, but you may want to. Each story can be read by itself but characters from previous books do make their way into this one.
