In this world of ex-humans (zombies) and few survivors, there are stories of heroism and deception. This is the fifth book in this series and could probably be read and enjoyed without having read the previous four. However, much of the backstory would be missing and it really is better having read all of the books in order. That said, this story has a couple of different plots going on at the same time. Chapters jumps from each plot and from the now to the past. This can be confusing at first but you do get use to it. Each plot is highly complex and is totally independent from the others. This truly reflects the real world where more than one thing does happen at the same time. The characters are great and as well written as the world in which they live. Each is unique and has their own special characteristics and abilities. The author does give the reader a heads up that this world is pretty much stuck in 2009 and references are made to things like the TV show Lost. There are lots of action and adventure in this story in addition to violence (you have to kill the zombies and stop bad guys) and possible nuclear explosions. This book is definitely not for young children. However, adults (older teens) are going to love this book/series. This story is imaginative and even if you don’t get the whole zombie thing, you will get the survival instinct. This is one of the best end of the world series that I have read.
ZZZap has found a floating island made of ships in the Pacific Ocean. He believes there may be more survivors and it is decided that ZZZap, St George and Madelyn should go give them an offer of help. At the Mount though things aren’t as good as they could be. Food is being rationed. But, there are gardens in Eden that may take care of that issue. The plan is to increase the number of people in Eden to scavenge the nearby houses/businesses and to expand the gardens. One of the people sent there doesn’t believe that at all and is willing to sabotage the plan. Will things work out for the survivors?
The spectacular fifth adventure in the genre-busting Ex-Heroes series
The heroes are overjoyed when they discover another group of survivors, living on a man-made island in the middle of the Pacific ocean. But there’s something very, very wrong with this isolated community and its mysterious leader—a secret that could put every survivor in the world at risk.
