They’re called the Eleven by Fin their leader. All are ancient souls from over a million years ago, a time when dinosaurs walked the earth. Now, their souls have been called and placed in human bodies to fight evil and prevent an ancient Mayan prediction that wipes out the human race and leaves the earth for those other than human. The first city that they are gathering in is Houston, TX.
Kelly Maloy has been hired to drive Ty Endeka around the city for a few weeks. Upon meeting him, her first thought was to run and run fast. Something about him scares her but she has no idea what. After her first night driving him around, she’s ready to quit! She didn’t sign on to deal with creatures she only thought were made up. Fin convinces her to stay but now on top of dealing with all the strangeness she finds herself attracted to Ty!
Ty Endeka’s soul is that of a T-Rex. Through some magical process Fin has given him knowledge of today’s world. Still Ty’s instincts are those of a dinosaur and he has some difficulties keeping them under control. When Ty meets Kelly his first instinct was to mate with her. Can he, a T-Rex, have a relationship with a human without hurting her and what is this emotion called love?
It took me a little while to get into this book. At first, the characters just seemed a bit stranger than I was use to. The Eleven when attacking change into their dinosaur shape with a human in the center. It took a bit to visualize this. Most of the other non-human characters are pretty much what one would expect.
The main characters are done very well. Kelly and Ty have some depth to them. Ty reminds himself frequently that what was normal millions of years ago is not correct today. He acknowledges that he and the rest of the Eleven have territorial issues and are definitely predators. Kelly while scared out of her wits, still wants to do what is right. When another driver comes up missing, she insists that they look for her.
The bad guys are called the Nine. Only one is seen in this book as it is the beginning of a series. They are located in different cities recruiting non-humans to do their work by promising them things that are currently not permitted like offering a vampire an area to hunt live prey. This bad guy called Nine looks like a human and pretty much stays out of sight. As his recruiting efforts become every effective, can the Eleven find and remove him before its too late?
While this book starts a bit confusing, once the story starts it’s hard to put down. The characters interact well and there is quite a bit of action with leaders of the vampires and werewolves entering into the hunt for Nine. The growing attraction between Kelly and Ty has its ups and downs as well as some problems that are unique to loving a dinosaur’s soul.
THE ELEVEN--an alliance of ultimate predators. Primal, lethal, irresistible.
THE PROPHECY--an ancient Mayan prediction that the world will end on 12-21-12.
THE PREY--where can you hide from pure evil?
Kelly Maloy opens her car door to much more than a great looking stranger at the Houston airport. Terror, desire, and a horrible truth climb in with him. She's only supposed to drive Ty Endeka around the city for a few weeks. Too bad no one tells her that once day fades she'll become part of a battle fought in the darkened streets with an enemy that isn't human. And the sensual man who feeds her fantasies hides a soul that gives new meaning to animal magnetism.
Eleven Gods of the Night...
The only creatures more deadly are the ones they've been summoned to destroy.
