Katie MacAlister once again combines her quirky humor and her sexy dragons into a story that has you laughing into love. No character is spared from becoming part of the humor including octogenarians and academics. The world that has been developed is always changing and shifting; yet it also stays basically the same with characters from the development of this world showing up in much later books.
In this book, the myths and gods of Egypt are the focal point as Sophea, Mrs. P and Rowan take a cruise to hell. Secondary characters are all some kind of mythological creature which adds quite a bit to this story. Sophea though is clueless about all of this and is shocked to learn that she is a Red Dragon mate and there are no Red Dragons left as they have all become demons. Rowan has his own issues and is trying to hide from the First Dragon. Things come together and hilarity happens. There is some seriousness though. Rowan needs to find a ring before it falls in the hands of the demons. The safety of dragonkin and humans are in the balance. I love these books and look forward to them. Each can be read without having read the previous ones. However, events and characters from the previous books will show up in this book. Don’t be surprised if you read this one and find yourself looking for more of Ms. MacAlister’s dragon books. They can be addicting. They are definitely entertaining.
Sophea’s job is to escort Mrs. P, a very much older lady, to Egypt so she can take a river cruise. It
sounded easy but Mrs. P has a habit of helping herself to other people’s stuff leaving Sophea to return it.
If it weren’t for the fact that Sophea hasn’t had a job in a couple of years and this job pays well, she probably wouldn’t have taken it. Rowan owes the dragons according to the First Dragon. To help repay his debt, he is looking for a powerful ring. He knows this woman, Mrs. P, has it but he needs to find it without her knowing. This is becoming harder than he thought it would be. It doesn’t help that he’s attracted to her companion, Sophea. Sophea is a Red Dragon’s mate and everyone knows that the Red Dragons are now demons. Sophea has no idea how Mrs. P knew her husband and why she keeps referencing dragons. She’ll soon find out as demons attack and Rowan comes to the rescue……or does he?
NOTHING BURNS HOTTER . . .
Sophea Long knows that escorting her octogenarian client to Europe will be an adventure. Mrs. P has a habit of stealing anything shiny, and the former "hoochikoo dancer" is a lot faster than she looks. But Sophea hadn't counted on Mrs. P leading her right into the arms of a smoldering, dark-haired stranger who kisses like a dream. If only he'd give up all this nonsense about Sophea being some kind of dragon...
THAN THE FIRE INSIDE
There's a reason Rowan Dakar is known as the Dragon Breaker. The last thing he needs is to fall for a woman who literally sets him aflame every time they kiss. After all, he has a mission-one that will finally free him of dragonkin for good. He can't afford to be distracted by the funniest, most desirable woman he's ever set eyes on. But no prophecy in the world can ever stop true love . . .
