Double Shot

Long Shots, #1

Sadie Long works at and is part owner in Pulled Long Espresso Bar and Catering. Sadie works in the kitchen baking the goods that are sold. Her brother, Ian deals with the coffee while their sister, Paige does the paperwork. Sadie is working on increasing the catering sides business. Sadie has had a crush on her good friend, Paul Williams for almost 10 years, ever since they were introduced when he was dating a friend of hers.

Paul has never treated Sadie as anything except a good friend. They like to hang out together and do things but Paul has always dated other women. Paul along with his good friend Josh own Mavericks, a sex club. Sadie has never been in it though her siblings have. When Paul offers Sadie a big catering job for Mavericks, Sadie doesn’t think twice about accepting it.

But, as the date for the catering party draws closer, Sadie notices Paul’s interest in her has changed, or is it just her wishful thinking? When Paul asks what her sexual fantasies because he’d like to fulfill one, does she dare express her desire to participate in the threesome with Paul and Josh? No matter what she wants to keep her friendship with Paul but how far is too far?

Terrific, fantastic first story in what looks to be an awesome trilogy. This story introduces all of the siblings that will have stories in this trilogy. It also sets up a possible pairing for another book. The best thing it does is get you involved and interested in these espresso bar owners.

This story has a light fun feel to it. The cake that Sadie is making for Mavericks has been nicknamed Boobs by Ian. Sadie is caught daydreaming in front of Josh’s pride and joy, a St Andrew’s cross that is located in the front of Mavericks. Throughout the story little snippets of humor are tossed in which keeps everything moving and interesting.

The characters are just as fun as the story. Sadie is quiet and not at all outgoing. She also has an adventurous side that isn’t seen often but when it is she’s a sight to behold. Paul can’t believe that he’s been blind to Sadie’s interest for so long. Then again, maybe the time just wasn’t right until now. He values Sadie’s friendship but he also values Josh’s friendship. Josh likes men and women though he’s never tried anything with Paul. However, Josh and Paul have a closer friendship than most people can handle. Ian is gay and he has no issues with that. Still, he can appreciate a nice looking women. All in all, a great cast of characters which keeps the reader glued to the book.

Of course, if you are going to have a story with part of it set in a sex club, you have to have hot sex. This book definitely delivers. Paul and Josh enjoy fulfilling Sadie’s fantasy even when she pushes it further than most heterosexual men would allow. A few little glimpses into other scenes in the club are shown as Sadie enjoys her first visit to Mavericks which I’m sure won’t be her last.

I couldn’t have asked for anything more from a story. I fell in love with the characters and could bear to put the story down. I couldn’t wait to see where things would lead and once there I became just as hot as Sadie! Immediately after I finished this story, I started looking for the next because I wasn’t wanting to leave these characters.

I highly recommend this story to anyone who loves a good romance with a bit of kink. I can’t wait to start reading the next book in this series because if it is even half as good as this one it will still be awesome.
