Djinni and the Geek

Book Two in the Geek Love series.

David is a computer college professor in southern MI. For fun, he likes to fight in knightly tournaments at reenactments. He’s quite good at it too as he brings the dirty fighting he learned on the streets of Detroit into his fights. While at a tournament in FL, he goes shopping, looking for a present for his sister. Instead, he finds himself walking into a robbery and becoming a hero of sorts. He also buys a puzzle box with the understanding that if he doesn’t figure out the puzzle in a year, he’s welcome to bring it back.

David learns quickly that the puzzle isn’t easy, even for a geek like him. However, a few months later he figures it out and the beautiful woman of his dreams appears telling him that he has three wishes.

Anissa is djinni. She was placed in the box 800 years ago by an evil mage. She refused to have sex with him and Anissa can not be free of the box until she agrees or he dies. Neither option seems likely. She occasionally gets to stay a while in the real world but eventually, she always ends up back in her box. As much as she’d like to stay with David, she knows that the mage will find her and force David to use his wishes so she ends up back in the box. While they’re waiting though, she has some definitely desires that David can fill!

David isn’t as shocked as most people would be if a djinni showed up in his house. Last year, his friends and he learned that dragons are real so why not a djinni. He does not plan on her returning to her box though. He plans on setting her free regardless of the evil mage. He isn’t sure how but he’s a geek on a mission and figuring things out is what he does.

This is the second book in these series about geeks. The first was about Drake the dragon though he didn’t get the girl in the end. This one is about djinni. Makes you wonder what magical creature comes next. Regardless, this book doesn’t need to be read after the first one as it’s a complete story by itself. The characters from the previous book are in this one including Drake but the story revolves around David and Anissa.

While the evil mage does do some awesome magic, he’s also moved into the 21st century. His first push to get David to use his wishes involves the police and suspected terrorist. This was a fantastic way to mesh mystical and modern. It came across as realistic or as realistic as you can get with magic involved.

David doesn’t forget his paper trails either. Anissa needs a passport and records showing her entry into the USA. It’s wonderful how all these modern details come alive with a little djinni magic.

The characters are great. I loved how easy it was to move David from a grubby child of the streets to a respected professor and make it believable. His past was part of his present as it is with most people. Anissa has a whole world that is separate from this one. She’s able to convey her early life in a way that makes sense, especially when it doesn’t match with what is current. She even brings in experiences with past masters.

And what’s a geek without geeky friends. David’s are around and definitely part of the story. It makes David and Anissa part of a community which again makes it feel as if you can be part of it too.

I really loved this story. It was a wonderful mix of technology and magic. It’s so seldom that geeks get to be the handsome hero and get the girl. And its not just the mage that is throwing around magic. It seems that there is some magic happening in David’s bed and it’s not all due to Anissa’s magical abilities.

I can’t wait to see where this series is going.

Book Blurb for Djinni and the Geek

Professor David Garvaglia is nobody’s idea of a hero. Is he? When David opens an antique box and finds a sexy Djinni in his bed, his desire for her is almost as powerful as his determination to set her free. Anissa has spent centuries as a prisoner of the box and has dreamed of the day some handsome master would release her. The scruffy computer geek isn’t what she expected, but everything about him turns her on.

While David and Anissa explore their explosive passion, he helps her adjust to the twenty-first century. Complicating things is an evil wizard who wants Anissa for himself. Between scorching sex in his faculty office and hacking government computers, David does everything he can to keep her safe—and satisfied.
