Even though this short story is obviously part of a series, it is highly entertaining even if you’ve never read a book in it. Ms Hill’s trademark humor is seen throughout the story containing her favorite group of people, Vikings! This group of Vikings are also angels and vampires. Talk about an interesting mix! Now, throw in Mike, or Archangel Michael, and a few humans, a touch of romance and some evil demon vampires and you have a story that will keep your interest and have you laughing. Plus, it’s set at Christmas time with 3 year old twins running around. All of the Vikings are not from the Viking era, just with Viking ancestors. And, though they are angels, they are not angelic. This story was over way too quickly and left me wanting to know more about these interesting characters. If you like a very different paranormal romance this is it. Ms Hill knows how to tell a story and her off beat humor is contagious. Absolutely loved this story (and I’m now off to find previous books in this series. How did I miss it?).
Karl is not in a Christmas mood so he takes off driving during a snow storm. Stopping at a favorite diner, he asks about a waitress, Faith who usually works there. The owner is worried about her so Karl goes to check on her. Faith is being physically abused by her boyfriend and even though it probably isn’t a good idea, Karl takes her home to the castle where the vangels live. Humans are not suppose to be there. Karl doesn’t immediately realize it but he’s more worried about Faith than just a friend would be. So, where can this go?
For the first time ever, the leader of the Viking Vampire Angels, Vikar Sigurdsson, has been talked into celebrating a traditional Christmas! The tree has been decorated, the gifts have been wrapped, and the stockings have been hung. And that's mistletoe, not cobwebs, hanging from the ceiling of the creepy castle full of vangels … really!
The icing on the vampire cookie comes when vangel Karl Mortensen rescues Faith Larson, a battered young waitress, from her abusive boyfriend and hides her in the castle amidst the Christmas chaos. But what Karl thought was a frail young teenager is actually a very tempting woman. And she thinks his fangs are sexy!
But a strange "Christmas visitor" at the castle and demon vampires up to their old tricks could threaten the budding romance between Karl and Faith. It's an impossible match-a human and a vangel-but Christmas is a time for magic.
Karl and Faith don't stand a chance …
