Carnal Magic

The Wraith Accords, #1

I’ve read Ms Dubois before but I wasn’t ready for this imaginative story. This is like nothing she’s ever written and I have to say I loved it. Forget the world you know and enter another dimension, one with magic in it and a culture that can be cruel. Humans are almost ignored as the Vampire and Fae become the main players. A couple of things are going on; primarily a love story that shouldn’t happen and a mystery of how a human is living among the Fae when that should be impossible. This is a wonderful mixture of romance, sex, violence, cruelty and power struggles which becomes a complex world full of fantasy. As I love fantasy stories as much as I love erotic romance, this is a prefect story for me. I couldn’t ask for anything better except maybe another story set in this unlikely setting.

A fragile alliance is on the line as Isabel enters the Fae court to meet with it’s king. If the alliance breaks, war will commence. Aed mac Goll has been tasked to guard Isabel and kill her if necessary to protect the Tuatha de Danann (fae). What he doesn’t expect is to feel attracted to a creature he sees as dead. Isabel is anything except dead and her desire for Aed is strong. She’s here for a mission though, not to seduce her guard. But, without Aed’s help, Isabel may not survive to even meet with the king! Can they learn to trust each other?

Book Blurb for Carnal Magic

What if the one you wanted more than any other was the only one you couldn’t trust?

Two hundred years after the Tuatha de Danann and Vampires formed a fragile alliance, the Wraith Accords are unraveling. Isabel Santiago is a leader in one of the most powerful of the vampire cabals, and she agrees to join the Fae court as a gesture of goodwill—and damage control.

While Aed mac Goll’s loyalty to Fae is absolute, he’s never supported the accords which gave the Vampires sanctuary and restored the Tuatha de’s link to humanity. The very idea he could desire an undead human is unthinkable, yet he’s drawn to Isabel’s dark beauty and fierce intelligence.

Despite their mutual mistrust, they soon find themselves lost in a dangerous game of lust and power. When the treaty shatters amid calls for Isabel’s head, Aed realizes their connection is more than physical. And to save it, they’ll have to unravel a mystery that’s been a thousand years in the making.

Warning: Contains sex, violence, magic and bloodlust. You know, the good stuff.
