The Bunco Babes are a group of women who meet to play bunco, a dice game. There are 12 of them and a waiting list of subs. No one can join unless a regular quits but if someone can’t play a sub is called. These women do more than just play bunco. They gossip, drink and have fun. They also support each other through life’s trails and are heavily involved in the community. From professionals to housewives to business owners, these women have the experience to offer opinions on everything!
Georgia Meyer has come to visit her sister, Frida in Whispering Bay, FL. Frida belongs to the Bunco Babes, which means nothing to Georgia until she’s invited to play. There she learns more about small town happenings and sees more of a bunch of women than she ever wanted to. There’s nothing like showing off your boobs! Unfortunately, Dave Hernandez and one of his best friends also see Georgia’s boobs.
Dave Hernandez is in construction and his best friend is trying to get him to become a partner with him. The problem is Dave has done that before and gotten burnt. He’s got work in Tampa but there may be more opportunities in Whispering Bay. Does he dare take a chance? After seeing Georgia, he’s thinking if nothing else it’s worth hanging around for a while.
Georgia is attracted to Dave as well but she has a longtime boyfriend back home. He’s one of the reasons Georgia came to visit Frida. For their fifth anniversary her boyfriend, Spencer, gave her a calculator instead of the engagement ring she was expecting. She’d dump him but he’s everything she’s ever wanted and he’s her boss! With the Bunco Babe’s help, can Georgia figure out what’s really important in her life?
I found this story to be as funny and charming as the first in this series, Bunco Babes Tell All. You don’t have to read both to enjoy either, you just have to sit back and start reading. This group of women can make even a total disaster funny and looks at things a bit differently than most of us. From boob flashing to raising money for a senior center, the Bunco Babes show enthusiasm and savvy.
I love the characters. There are a lot of them, as it takes 12 to play bunco, but each is unique and interesting. Pilar works long hours but is trying to cut back. She also has to show off her new boob job. Bettina is that spoiled stuck up girl everyone hates but you don’t dare cross. Frida is hard working but isn’t so great at business which drives her goal orientated sister, Georgia nuts. Even the guys are great with gambling problems and not wanting to miss football games.
Situations that should be horrible come up, if not wonderful, positive. A nanny cam that shows the nanny drinking also solves who stole money raised for the community center. Running into a closet to have a good cry gets real interesting when you’re joined by a good looking guy and gets even better when you come out of it to find your boyfriend! There’s never a dull moment around these bunco players.
I’m almost hoping that they never get the community center built as this seems to be a central theme in each book so I can keep reading about this group’s adventures. Then again, given how quickly they fall into situations, they may continue to have adventures even after it’s built! Regardless, I love these characters and love their stories. As an added bonus there are recipes and some tips on playing bunco in the back of the book from real life bonco groups!
Bunco seems to me to be a game of chance but you won’t be taking any chances reading this book, as it’s a winner!
Romance gets a little dicey in the sassy, sizzling second novel by the author of Bunco Babes Tell All.
Georgia Meyer needs some time to think-and what better place to get her head on straight than Whispering Bay, Florida, in the company of her sister Frida and her sister's Bunco-playing friends, aka the Bunco Babes? Georgia's boyfriend-and boss-Spencer Moody made a slight miscalculation in the romance department and gave her a calculator instead of an engagement ring. So she needs some sisterly advice, in between rolling dice and drinking frozen margaritas, as to her next move.
While considering subtracting Spencer from her life, Georgia meets the very handsome Dave Hernandez. Unfortunately when a Bunco night gets a little out of hand, Georgia reveals more of herself to Dave than she intended. Now, as she helps the Babes prepare for a Bunco Black Tie fundraiser, she needs to search her heart-and keep her shirt on-long enough to decide if a love affair with Dave might be a dream come true.
