Awakening

This story is awesome on so many levels. With two major themes, you don’t have time to lose interest. Vanessa wants to learn about BDSM and Will finds that he wants to learn about Vanessa even though there is an age difference. Will is a dominate and it’s part of who he is until he is injured on the job and suddenly he’s dealing with PTSD. This story is a roller coaster with ups and downs that make corners and sharp turns. Just when you think it’s going to get smooth, expect a switch. The emotions fly across the page and make these characters feel as if you know them. They become part of you. Secondary characters are just as interesting and have an entire set of quirks and personality traits all of their own. No one is perfect which reflects real life. I loved that Vanessa didn’t immediately love everything she saw and that Will takes the time to learn what she does like. This is a wonderful story that I’m sure I’ll read over and over again as I’m sure I missed some details because I rushed reading this story the first time through. I just couldn’t wait to see how it ended and how things would work out. Ms Carr has a winner with this story and I hope to see more of these characters in future books.

Vanessa is in her final semester of college when she takes an elective class in her major, Psychology of Sex. For the most part the class is pretty boring until BDSM is introduced and Vanessa decides that she wants to do her research paper on some aspect of BDSM. To that end, she contacts a local BDSM club asking if she could come visit. Rod is the owner of the club but due to a migraine attack, he asks his good friend Will to meet Vanessa. Will is in his early 30s and knows he shouldn’t be interested in a college student but Vanessa intrigues him. Though he’s only suppose to show her around the club, Will wants to know her outside of it too. Where will this relationship go?

Book Blurb for Awakening

Vanessa Clark is doing a research paper for one of her last classes – Psychology of Sex – before receiving her Bachelors’ degree. Once she discovers the topic of BDSM, everything else pales in comparison. But where will she learn about it? The Internet has its limits, and Vanessa needs to talk to real-life practitioners of BDSM to really understand the lifestyle and write about it.

Will Astin, who serves as a dungeon master at a local BDSM club, doesn’t expect to find a gorgeous, irresistible young woman when he agrees to a meet and greet with a college student as a favor to the club’s owner. Even better, she’s interested in learning about BDSM for what he suspects are more than scholarly reasons, and Will decides he’s just the man to teach her about it, hopefully claiming her for his own.

Will and Vanessa begin a journey which teaches both of them there’s more to BDSM than meets the eye. In the process, they grow closer, but when Will’s job puts him in the line of fire – literally – their roles are reversed and Vanessa has to take charge. Can they handle the rapid shift in their burgeoning dynamic, or is their relationship doomed?
