This is a reissue of a previously released book but I so enjoyed rereading it. Each time it feels like a new book. The characters come alive and the situations feel so real. There is nothing simplistic about this series/book. While the romance may seem fairly straight forward politics, both pack and national, get in the way. Even as an alpha, Cade can’t just through everything to the wind and mate with Grace. Grace has a history that marks her as an enemy. I loved how this book built on what came before yet can be read independently of the previous books. The world this story is placed in is well developed with firm rules. The Cascadia wolves interact with lots of packs and everything isn’t super straight forward. Even though I knew the ending having read this book before, it still felt fresh and new. I love it when a book can be reread and you still love it as much the second time as you did the first.
Cade is the alpha of the Cascadia wolves. They are a strong pack and Cade plans on keeping it that way. He is working with National in trying to discover what kind of formula a rogue wolf is using to infect humans, killing them. When an informant steps forward no one expected it to be the rogue’s sister. Can she be trusted? Cade doesn’t care because she is calling his wolf to mate. Does he dare?
As an unmated alpha, Cade was beginning to believe his entire life would be dedicated to the pack. He'd do anything for his pack family, but his life isn't complete without someone to share it with. He didn't expect to finally find his reason for being in the heart and soul of his greatest enemy's sister.
Dr. Grace Pellini has never felt so isolated and afraid. Ever since her rogue brother threatened the existence of wolf and human alike with a viral weapon, she had no choice but to cut all ties with her pack. But now Grace has something new: Cade Warden, whose body and exhilarating scent make her come undone. In him, she's not only found her destined mate, she's also rediscovered herself, and her place in a world at war.
But the Cascadia wolves are not so unquestioning as Cade is of Grace's loyalty, and their suspicions are posing a dangerous threat. Now, to defeat a madman and end the war, Cade and Grace have only each other to trust—by finding their ultimate strength in the power of desire…
