This is the third book in Ms. James’ Need You series and I think it is the best so far. I instantly fell in love with Annika and Axl. They are terrific, complex characters that show one side of themselves to the public and have totally different personalities elsewhere. But, this story is so much more than just a simple love story. It has lying, cheating, secret lives and difficult family issues that make it have tremendous depth and gives it plenty of interest. Each chapter alternates between the two main characters allowing each point of view to come across. I loved the tension between the main characters and then between them and Axl’s agent. I loved that each of their families made appearances and how they influenced each of them. Once again I finished a story and wanted more. I don’t know how Ms. James does it but she has the ability to bring you into her characters’ lives and world making you part of it. If you like contemporary romance, grab this book immediately. Word of warning: You will go looking for more of her books because this book is just that good.
Annika is a master at PR issues but she has no desire to take on Axl Hammerquist, hockey player. However, a manipulative mother and a brother who needs a new agent has Annika agreeing to translate for Axl and help spin him a new reputation. Axl is having fun and isn’t sure he wants to work with Annika. When his agent, Peter, gives him no choice, Axl soon learns that there is more to Annika than he thought. Can he show her the real him or will that blow everything apart?
