It’s time to join the revolution and the army of the Black Lily.
The Vampire Blood series continues in this second title. “The Red Lily” deals with a new couple who supports the movement to overthrow the vampire monarchy. This series needs to be read in order as each installment moves the overall plot forward.
In book one you find out about The Black Lily, aka Arabelle, and in this second book you have The Red Lily, aka Sienna, moving from village to village recruiting men and women to take up the cause. I very much like both Arabelle and Sienna. They both are courageous during a time of great strife and change. They lose friends along the way as this revolution demands blood and sacrifice.
The vampire queen and her army are killing humans and rounding them up. The people need to rise up before it’s too late. The author Juliette Cross did a great job of bringing that scenario to life. You feel like you need to run, but also rise up and protect the people.
In “The Blood Lily” we have Sienna. She’s teaming up with the vampire lieutenant Nikolai. He’s a true friend to the vampire price Marius. Marius and Arabelle are the couple from book one. Marius is one of the queen’s sons, but he has risen up against her.
Lieutenant Nikolai is so sweet and wants to protect Sienna. But Sienna knows she can’t be protected too much. She needs to be on the front lines and raising an army. As Sienna builds the army Nikolai is there with her all the way, but he wants to get her to safety. These two work well together and I just loved how they were drawn to each other.
Sienna was a very special character to me. She lives in a forest and is a friend to the fearsome Heart wolves. She’s not looking for love. But she’s definably ready for a hot hero. She gets both love and a hero that makes her hot and bothered within the pages of “The Red Lily”.
Juliette Cross has come up with a wonderful series where each book builds upon the other. I love how each couple is the focus of their book, but the prior characters do get mentioned. I've now finished the first three books and can't wait for the fourth. Looking forward, I have to say book three, "The White Lily", has been my all time favorite in the series.
The Black Lily resistance needs a larger army if they are to defeat the vampire monarchy. In order to do so, former lieutenant and traitor to the vampire Crown, Nikolai must seek help from the red-hooded temptress he needs to avoid at all costs. The secret he carries could prove dangerous for her if she gets too close...even though keeping her close—very close—is the only thing on his mind.
Sienna will do anything for the Black Lily, and when Nikolai asks for her assistance to gain the trust of the commonwealth, it’s the last thing she wants to do. The thought of leaving her woods and her wolves behind is terrifying...not to mention the danger being with Nikolai poses.
Each book in the Vampire Blood series is a standalone and can be read out of order.
