Author Josh Funk and illustrator Brendan Kearney are back with a sequel in their Lady Pancake & Sir French Toast children's series. In this second installment we get more of that fun loving comedy we got in book one.
The illustrations in this book are just fabulous. You have food dressed up and coming alive. The maple syrup bottles were just so cute and Sir French Toast's mustache and curls just scream hilarious. You also get onion guards with toothpick's for weapons and jelly beans with eyes and mouths. I just love the style and creativity in this book.
The story in this book is focused on an investigation. In "The Case of the Stinky Stench" we get inspector Croissant. He's on the hunt for a very awful smell. He's trying to find the source and Lady Pancake & Sir French Toast help him track down the stinky culprit. I'm not giving away what or who that is. But it's hilarious for sure.
The printing on this book goes above and beyond. The last page of the book folds out and you get a two page portrait layout.
I can't wait to see what comes from this series next. The publisher sent me some awesome magnets to go with the books. I've now collected Lady Pancake, Sir French Toast and Inspector Croissant!
"Uncle," Croissant said, "the fridge is in trouble!
A mystery stench turned a whole shelf to rubble!
I'm the last hope or the fridge will be lost!
Help me or else we'll be cooked, served, and sauced."
There's a stinky stench in the fridge--and our favorite foodie friends must solve a smelly mystery! Sir French Toast's nephew, Inspector Croissant, begs him and Lady Pancake for help in finding the source of the foul odor. Could it be the devious Baron von Waffle? A fetid fish lurking in the bottom of Corn Chowder Lake? Featuring the same delectable wordplay and delicious art that won critical raves for Lady Pancake & Sir French Toast--this fun follow-up is an absolutely tasty treat for kids and adults alike!
