If you are looking for a cute paranormal YA read check out Heather Davis’s Never Cry Werewolf. This is a fun teen read that will have you routing big time for the heroine.
Shelby, the heroine, is going through some very emotional times. Her beloved mother passed away and her father has moved on, but she has not. She is now faced with a stepmother who has no interest in her. Her stepmother is just looking for ways to pack her off to a camp. Shelby’s dad is an inventor and has struck it rich. The new stepmother is only interested in his wealth and this drives Shelby nuts. Shelby starts acting up at school and soon she is packed and off to a camp for troubled teens.
Shelby finds that camp is very restrictive, but also has its moments. She meets Austin Bridges, the son of a rock star. Austin has his own family problems as well as some furry ones. He is a werewolf and his medication has been confiscated as drugs. Austin confides in Shelby and they do everything they can to keep his secret. But one boy at camp is looking to shout everyone’s secrets to his fathers press company. Will these two survive camp? Will they find they have an emotional connection? Which one of them will get kicked out of camp and sent somewhere else? And will this event separate them forever?
This is Heather Davis’s debut title and I look forward to more fabulous stories by her.
Never Cry Werewolf includes a few kisses on the road to teen romance.
Moonlight can totally change your life.
And it all starts so simply.
Okay, so maybe Shelby has made a few mistakes with boys lately (how was she supposed to know Wes had "borrowed" that Porsche?). But her stepmother totally overreacts when she catches Shelby in a post-curfew kiss with a hot senior: Suddenly Shelby's summer plans are on the shelf, and she's being packed off to brat camp. It's good-bye, prom dress; hello, hiking boots.
Things start looking up, though, when Shelby meets fellow camper (and son of a rock star) Austin Bridges III. But soon she realizes there's more to Austin than crush material—his family has a dark secret, and he wants Shelby's help guarding it. Shelby knows that she really shouldn't be getting tangled up with another bad boy . . . but who is she to turn her back on a guy in need, especially such a good-looking one? One thing's for sure: That pesky full moon is about to get her into trouble all over again.
