Veronica Blade wow’s me again with another fabulous story. She knows how to draw a reader in to her characters’ lives and have you flipping the pages.
My Wolf's Bane is an engaging young adult paranormal that readers will enjoy. Autumn is our main character. She is almost 18 and a popular girl…currently. Autumn is used to moving a few times a year as her parents take jobs all around the nation. Her parents are extremely protective. She has a clunker of a car and a boyfriend. Soon her boyfriend is an ex with psycho tenancies. Luckily there is a new boy in school, Zack de Luca. I particularly liked Autumn because she was truly a nice girl. She would be a great BFF.
Zack thinks Autumn is a full of herself, but that’s just not true. He’s making big assumptions that are soon rectified. This book has a lot of things going on that all twine together well. Soon a love develops between Zack and Autumn, but a future just isn’t possible. Werewolf society just won’t allow them to have a life together. How will they find a solution or will they?
There were a couple of things I found a bit unbelievable. The first was that Autumn’s parents took off for weeks. They were overly protective and it was just a bit of a stretch to see them out of the picture so quickly. It was like they flipped and became something they weren't. The second thing has to do with Autumn’s family and the paranormal world. I’m not going to discuss too much about what their involvement is as that would be a spoiler.
The ending was fulfilling even being that this is the first title in the series. Ms. Blade ties up the really important parts and doesn’t leave a huge cliffhanger…but you will still be craving more and awaiting the next title.
I’m hooked on the Shapes of Autumn series!
Different species. Mortal enemies. It'll never work, but they'll die trying.
Autumn Rossi thought she was a normal teenager. Suddenly, she can outrun every critter in the forest, making her wonder if she’s even human.
When the new guy at school, Zack de Luca, witnesses a questionable scene, he unfairly pins her as stuck-up. He acts like he hates her, yet he keeps bailing her out of trouble. Not only is Zack both insufferable and irresistible, he seems to sniff her anytime he gets close.
As passion flares between them, Autumn isn’t sure which is more dangerous: her psycho ex-boyfriend, or falling for Zack — who’s risking his life just by being near her.
