Castle starts a new spinoff in her Harmony world series. This new spinoff features "Illusion Town", a place not unlike Vegas. I must say this is a fabulous start to this new and exciting Harmony destination. Illusion Town is quite unique with multiple zones. Some are flashy and others quite dark. This book mostly takes place in those darker sections of town where money is pretty scarce. Our heroine lives here.
If you are new to Jayne Castle's Harmony set books, don't start here. A lot of the world building is done in the earlier books. I fell in love with this series like over 20 years ago and I'm thrilled that this series is still ongoing and adapting.
One of the themes in this book is family. Not just blood, but a family as in those who love you like family. Our heroine Hannah West lost her parents as a baby. Luckily two lovely Illusion Town magicians took her in and raised her. These two woman gave her love and became her aunts. And the family doesn't stop there. Hannah's got a brother and uncles. In Illusion Town, a family is often earned through community and taking care of each others.
All the Harmony books come with a stellar romance and fun mystery. This one is no different. I got swept away with all the twists and turns thrown my way. I love the way that Castle spins a mystery.
Our fabulous and sexy hero is Elias Coppersmith. Elias is good with technology and he comes from a very wealthy family. But he doesn't let that go to his head, he prefers being in the lab and solving puzzles. Hannah and Elias come into contact when Elias hires her to find some items for him. She dreams and is able to psychically find things. It's an out of body experience. They have been working online together. They decided to meet one night and all hell breaks loose. The next morning they wake up with no memory of the prior night. But Elise finds a marriage license in his wallet. That kicks off Hannah and Elias searching for why they got married and why someone is after them.
This book comes with a brand new Dust Bunny character that readers are sure to fall in love with.
I loved this latest edition in the Harmony world.
A new adventure begins on Harmony…
With its opulent casinos and hotels, the desert city of Illusion Town is totally unique—and will take you on a thrill ride you’ll never forget.
Hannah West isn’t the first woman to wake up in Illusion Town married to a man she barely knows, but she has no memory of the ceremony at all. For that matter, neither does Elias Coppersmith, her new husband. All either can remember is that they were on the run…
With Hannah’s dubious background and shaky para-psych profile, she could have done much worse. The cooly competent mining heir arouses her curiosity—as well as other parts of her mind and body. And even her dust bunny likes him.
But a honeymoon spent retracing their footsteps leads Hannah and Elias into the twisting underground catacombs, where secrets from both their pasts will come to light—and where the energy of their clashing auras will grow hot enough to burn…
