Garden of Lies

Amanda Quick draws readers into her latest historical romantic mystery with her trademark quirky and strong-minded sluthy heroine and mysterious hero. I very much loved both the hero and heroine in this book. Each has an interesting history and reason for who they are and why they do things. They had their own personalities and really made learning about them interesting.

The mystery really had me stumped as Quick only gives a bit away with each chapter and encounter. You learn about all the potential villains as the main characters do and it's not as simple as Quick giving you one or two potentials.

In Garden of Lies we get Ursula Kern. She's a business owner was high ideals for her studious women secretaries. One of her employees was Anne. Anne was a good friend who has recently died. Ursula suspects murder and starts her own investigation.

Our hero Slater has recently hired Ursula. She has to take a leave of absence to take on her investigation. Slater is not too happy about that. After finding out Ursula is investigating her friends death he steps into help out.

Dirty deeds are happening and Anne left clues for Ursula. Slater and Ursula investigate in their own ways. As always Quick has the hero and here in butt heads. In this story the hero also has a relative situation. Slater is the son of an actress and a Lord. He he also has a mysterious past as a stranded archaeologist. Just wait till you saw the Mystery. You won't be disappointed by Amanda Quick's trademark heroes and heroines. I recommend the story to those who enjoy quirky characters and historical set mysteries. I know I know I'll be back for more of Amanda the Quick stories with each new release.
