Chosen by Desire
Guardians of Destiny Series, book 2
Kate Perry’s Chosen by Desire kept me up all night and left me royally satisfied. I just wonder how she will out do herself on her next novel as this one blew me away. Chosen by Desire is now one of my favorite paranormal reads and Kate Perry is on my auto buy list. This is book two in The Guardians of Destiny series. It stands well on its own, but book one does play a small part.
Perry wove the heroine Carrie Woods and the hero Maximillian Prescott together with a deft hand. I wanted to be Carrie’s friend as she had spunk and drive. Her sticky fingers thought did not endear her to me, but all friends make mistakes. Luckily her mistakes work out for the best. Maximillian aka Max is one hot guy…maybe one of the hottest guys in this genre. He’s smoking hot. From brains to brawn he has it all. He will really spark a connection with readers. He is the epitome of the sexy, rich and delicious bad boy. He’s totally irresistible and hard to forget.
Carrie Woods just wants to be a successful and get a primo job at her university. If she can just prove that a Chinese theory is not just theory, but truth she can secure a coveted position. She does have completion and from the start we are not sure if her completion is dangerous or not. When Carrie overhears a private conversation she gets on a plane and heads for a monastery in China. She finds some documents that she thinks will prove the theory she has been researching for her paper. The information is on an ancient scroll. She steals it from the monastery and out from under the monks noses. Along the way she spots a hot guy with long blond hair. With a smile at him she is on her way back to the USA…along with her heisted items. In her haste she not only got the scroll she needed but some others as well. One of the other scrolls is the book of water. The book of water is a magical scroll and it starts affecting Carrie. She dreams of water and starts to have erotic dreams about the man who she saw at the monastery.
Back in the USA Carrie is sent to do a job translating Chinese manuscripts. Her employer turns out to be the sexy guy from the monastery. Max has his own ideas on how to take care of Carrie. How will these two complete each other? Who is trying to kill Carrie? How will Max take care of getting the scrolls back to the monastery and to the monks?
Book Blurb for Chosen by Desire
It's down to the wire and Carrie Woods is leaving China without the proof she needs for her thesis: Wei Lin's journal. While on a final tour of the monastery, Carrie finally locates the scrolls and attempts to photograph the documents. Caught in a sticky situation, Carrie takes the scrolls, only to notice a mysterious monk watching her--the same monk that she's seen each time she's taken a tour. Unable to return the scrolls, she travels back to California and isn't too thrilled when she notices the monk at the airport.
Maximillian Prescott first came to the monastery as an orphaned teenager when he inherited the Book of Metal from a distant uncle he hardly knew. After spotting a woman stealing from the monastery, he follows her to get back the documents he knows she's stolen. Max is further intrigued when he finds out that the chatty woman is friends with his archrival, Rhys Llewellyn, and he will stop at nothing to get back everything he's lost.
