A romance that will take you for a wild ride! Full Throttle is a fast paced, fun romance with a touch of family drama that brings together two unexpected people.
I connected with Shawn Hamby‘s character from the opening scene. Older than our hero, Rhett Ford, her fun loving charisma pulled me in and had me rooting for her throughout the story. I found Rhett to be a great hero and match for her even though he’s younger. He was mature and knew exactly how to bring the best out of Shawn as an individual and also cultivate a deeper relationship between himself and our heroine.
Author Erin McCarthy writes with an energetic and emotionally charged prose that grabs a hold of your attention from the humorous opening all the way through the middle and across the finish line for a Happily-Ever-After for Rhett and Shawn. It doesn’t seem such an ending is lined up for them however, which made it all the more fascinating to discover as the story progressed.
Starting out Shawn, along with a group of her best friends, bump into Rhett at a fetish bar then later discover the man she thought she’d never see again is really the brother-in-law of her best friend. That’s not the best of it yet, though. Shortly afterwards Shawn discovers her recently deceased grandfather, with whom she ran the family dirt race track with, left some small print in his will that requires her to be married by a certain time or forfeit the track. Desperate to find away to keep the track with her independence intact she sets out to convenience Rhett he’d be the perfect fake husband for the stipulated year she must remain married. There’s a long way to the finish line from this point. Along the way we see deeper why Rhett likes taking control and how Shawn learns to let loose and find her sensuality.
Full throttle holds a strong romantic plot tied together by wonderful family and friends. And who could forget the steamy love scenes? Not Shawn and Rhett! Too hot to handle, for sure!
Another point I loved about the story is how I was able to enjoy this story as a standalone though it is a part of Ms. McCarthy’s widely loved Fast Track novels. To wind it up, I recommend this book to all romance readers that love a strong heroine lead and a love story that will reeve your motors!
Easing into the turns?
As one of only two girls on the tween racing circuit, Shawn Hamby has always run with a fast crowd. But now at thirty-two, she doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone. And she definitely doesn’t need a man bossing her around off of the track?
Putting the pedal to the metal?
But after a silly girls’ night at a fetish club, Shawn can’t get Rhett Ford out of her mind. He’s younger than her, and he’s her best friend’s brother-in-law, which should be red flags. Rhett is looking for someone to lead in bed, but he can’t imagine that Shawn would ever submit to him. Boldly surrendering is more her style. And with Rhett behind the wheel, it’s going to be one wild ride
