Debbie Macomber is a master story teller. Through the years I have followed her books and her characters; always fascinated with the magical tales she creates for her readers. Her talent does not stop at fiction writing though. Debbie Macomber's Christmas Cookbook is a wonderful and delightful read filled with touching personal stories of Christmas with her family. These tales are intertwined between delicious recipes and home made crafts to help make the holidays a joy in every home. You'll also find very affordable home made gift ideas like Do-It-Yourself Spice Packets. I prepared and gave these to a friend of mine that loves to bake this Christmas as a personal touch to a gift I bought her. I can't describe just how excited and touched she was that I would hand make a gift for her. Her smile was priceless!
Also, throughout the book attractive illustrated photos bring to life many of the recipes and crafts making it a joy to simply sit down and look through while dinner is simmering.
This Christmas I prepared seven of the offered recipes for my family and each one was received with praise and demands for seconds. I found many traditional recipes such as winter Tomato Pie and Christmas Eve Eggnog, while new and modern treats such as Five Minute Cranberry Walnut Cobbler and Ginger Pear Crumble that I've yet to try. The one little detail that I loved the most about this cookbook was that I felt as if I were sitting down with Ms. Macomber herself and getting a warm welcome into her own kitchen. Each family recipe that she shared has a tradition or story behind it and I can't wait to start building my own collection of stories with those same recipes. In fact, I've already started! And come this New Years I'll be ringing it in with a White Chocolate Peppermint Cheesecake after the Cider Glazed Roasted Turkey!
Debbie Macomber has rekindled my love for the holidays with her holiday cookbook! She has touched my heart with her stories and has placed a heart warming smile on my family and friend's faces this year. I will definitely be pulling this cookbook out each Christmas or even throughout the year to keep the spirit alive all year long. Thank you Ms. Macomber for your sharing!
We call her the "Official Storyteller of Christmas"-but Debbie Macomber is more than that. She's someone who loves the holiday and all its traditions. Now she shares more than one hundred of her favorite recipes to help you enjoy this most joyous of seasons. You'll also find easy-to-follow instructions for crafts, decorations and gift wrapping-everything you need to create a beautiful and festive holiday.
What makes this cookbook unique is Debbie's personal memories and observations. Join her as she reminisces about traditions past and present, and discover the craft ideas she herself uses. As she says, "The holidays are about being with others. They're about celebrating and sustaining our personal community of family and friends."
In this beautifully illustrated book, she shows you how to serve a memorable meal, whether it's a sit-down Christmas dinner for a crowd, entertaining a group of friends at an open house or tea, or spending time with your children or grandchildren baking cookies and making gifts.
