The Brethren Series

What would you do if your whole life was turned upside down? You family was murdered in cold blood, essentially right before your eyes and now they were after you…and you had been living an assumed life that really hadn’t been all that rosy? Would you be able to trust? To believe?

Trusting and believing have long been difficult for Callie, especially where men are concerned. Throw an angel into the mix on a mission from God and you have your goals intersect and you have Elixxir. But how does it play out?

The Good: With Callie’s scarred past, her skittish behavior was very believable. Meeting and connecting with Nathaniel was not a surprise after reading the blurb, but believing and enjoying the depth of the emotion between the two of them certainly was. The author took two very unlikely characters and created an emotional connection that pulled me right on in. I fell head over heels for that big, brooding Alpha with issues and when he and Callie teamed up, I couldn’t do anything but cheer. This story was unlike anything I had been through personally, yet I found it resonating with me throughout the book. The plot was not nearly as simple as it seemed at first as the author threw in several twists that keep me turning page after page and staying up late to find out ‘What happened next!

The Bad: Callie’s character was skittish and flighty, which made for some awkward reading moments. Due to her backstory though, I was willing to let it slide. The story over all had its ups and downs though and story did not seem to flow smoothly all the time. The slipping back and forth in time was a bit confusing at times and I had to re-read several parts to make sure I hadn’t missed anything. All that being said however, the author did a good job of taking care of all the loose ends and tying off the story nicely in the end.

The Snuggly: Nathaniel exuded sex appeal. Put him and a damsel in distress together in close quarters for long and, well, it would get steamy. Put him and Cassie together and it became fireworks central. Their chemistry worked, no two ways about it. The internal dialog of the two characters was: Mouthwatering. The kisses: Hot. The shower scene: Whoa baby! And never before have wings been so sexy. Suffice it to say that while the actual intimacy is fairly tame, the whole heat factor is nuclear.

Many question whether angels walk among us. I don’t. Elixxir is an enjoyable and adventuresome read. As it is part of a series, I had hoped it would stand alone but you would be better off reading the proceeding books first. While the Snuggly would probably be acceptable for all ages, this book deals with some tough subjects. Due to that I would recommend it be for at least ages 16 and up. Do you have to be into Paranormal to enjoy Elixxir? No, but you do need an open mind. You need an open mind and a thing for a good soul-mate romance. Have that and you area pretty much guaranteed to enjoy this book, cover to cover.

Book Blurb for Elixxir

Callie has secrets, too many to count.

For twenty years she’s been living a lie as Callie Worthington, hiding from the monsters who brutally murdered her parents for possession of the Elixxir of Life. Unsuccessful before, their killers have found her and will stop at nothing to acquire the Elixxir. And see her dead.

Nathanael has a couple of secrets, too. A nasty one in particular blurs the line separating Good from Evil. As an immortal Brethren Warrior, though, he must retrieve the Elixxir before it falls into the wrong hands. Just how he’s going to get it out of Callie’s is the big question.

Tempers flare as Callie and Nathanael reach out to each other with their own hidden agendas. She needs his protection. He needs the Elixxir. Will their fiery passion lead to lasting love, or will their web of intrigue ultimately destroy them both?

Secrets, lies, and love’s loyalties tested. What price for immortality? What price for love?
