Ophelia has her own way of doing things and doesn't like anyone to get in her way. She can take care of herself, after all she is a vampire with all that that entails. She gets so frustrated when she calls the police for someone destroying her garden and ends up with a detective that really will not take no for an answer. He has his own way of doing things and will do what he wants no matter what Ophelia or anyone else says, even his boss.
Ophelia wasn't looking for love, she had gotten burned badly before and hated men. Gideon was not the man for her. He was smart, a cop, and he wouldn't listen and do what she told him to, so definitely not for her.
Despite their trying to not like each other, sometimes life gets in the way and lo and behold love happens regardless of what you want.
Can this couple really be a couple? Or will life throw another curve ball and destroy what they have before it even gets off the ground? You have to read to find out.
This book was a little slow starting out, but once it picked up the pace I had a hard time putting it down. Once I got into it, it was a page-turner to the very end.
Dark secrets abound in the town of Bayou Gavotte, Louisiana, from blackmail to fetish clubs to murder, and when blood-and-love starved vampire Ophelia Beliveau calls the police to scare away whoever is desecrating her garden, Detective Gideon O’Toole unearths more than he ever dreamed.
