Broken English

Ohio Amish Mysteries

David Hawkins comes to Amish country for the peace it gives him. He is a military man and wants to get away from all the violence from his past. He has even fallen in love with an Amish woman with her own past that she would like to forget, and he has adopted the Amish way of life as he plans to marry her. He has vowed to a life of peace among the Amish.

But when his only daughter is murdered and others connected with the convict who murdered her end up dead as well, who can blame everyone from thinking it is him out for vengeance because of his daughter. So he goes into hiding.

The pastor and professor are back to solve another mystery in Amish Country. Can they figure out who the killer is before he kills again? Are these murders a result of a father's love for a lost daughter and seeking revenge the only way he has ever known, violence, or has he truly turned over a new leaf and accepted the Amish way of life and forgiveness but is being framed for these murders?

Can David find the peace he seeks and be able to marry his Amish woman and live in peace among the Amish? Or will he lose the peace he seeks from grief for his daughter and thoughts of revenge?

You will really love this second book in the series. These two Englishmen are really good at solving the mysteries, even though they come from very different backgrounds and go about their logic a little differently. A very good mystery indeed!

Book Blurb for Broken English

A compulsively readable new series that explores a fascinating culture set purposely apart.

In the wooded Amish hill country, a professor at a small college, a local pastor, and the county sheriff are the only ones among the mainstream, or "English," who possess the instincts and skills to work the cases that impact all county residents, no matter their code of conduct or religious creed.

David Hawkins came to the quiet town of Millersburg to escape his demons and unexpectedly found salvation in Amish life-until his English daughter is brutally murdered.
