This was an interesting story about two people trying to put their pasts behind them and have a second chance at a happy life. Master of Sin was enjoyable and worth investing some time in. It is also quite different than many other romances gracing the shelves today.
Andrew Rossiter and Gemma Peartree are both on the run from a life of sin that has poisoned their world. Andrew has been forced to please men and women from a young age. Gemma is fleeing because of her ex-courtesan mother and her need to have male companions. By fate, they meet up in the Outer Hebrides, hoping to hide and rebuild their lives, while taking care of Andrew's small son.
Andrew's story was sad, from the sexual abuse he suffered to the threat against his and his son's life. He wanted to change, but he had a hard time believing he was worth anything than the sex he had provided to others almost his entire life. He couldn't believe in his own feelings, especially towards Gemma and his son, so he had a really hard time believing in others towards him. He spent a lot of time pushing people away, when what he really wanted was to pull them close and hang onto them with all his being.
Gemma was an interesting woman. She was smart, stubborn and prone to speak her mind when she probably shouldn't, but she knew what she wanted. She wanted to care for Andrew's son and she wanted Andrew. Despite her inexperience, she pushed Andrew to the edge of sanity, but she hoped that pushing would make him realize that he wanted both Gemma and his son in his life.
Andrew Rossiter has used his gorgeous body and angelic face for all they're worth - shocking the proper, seducing the willing, and pleasuring the wealthy. But with a young son depending on him for rescue, suddenly discretion is far more important than desire. He'll have to quench his desires - fast. And he'll have to find somewhere his scandalous reputation hasn't yet reached...Miss Gemma Peartree seems like a plain, virginal governess - or so she hopes. No matter how many sparks fly between them, she has too much to hide to catch Andrew's eye. But with a stormy Scottish winter driving them together, it will be hard to keep her secrets. Especially when Andrew feels he has found the woman who can restore his soul - one kiss at a time...
