Graceila "Ace" Jones has moved from her hometown of Bugtussle, MS to Pelican Cove, FL to be with the man she has loved most of her life, Mason Mackenzie, and open an art gallery. It's a huge adjustment for Ace, especially when she catches the ire of Lenore Kennashaw. While she fights the prejudices of Lenore and her friends, and develops friendships with new people in Pelican Cove, Ace must decide where she really wants to be: Bugtussle or with Mason.
Happily Ever Madder picks up three months after Ace moved to Pelican Cove. Ace is trying to carve out her new life with Mason in Florida as she lives out her dream of opening an Art Gallery and painting. It’s not easy for Ace, since she misses her best friends and finds herself in a battle of wills with Lenore Kennashaw.
Ace is also in a battle with her feelings about Mason. The reality of living with Mason isn’t all Ace thought it would be and she struggles with how his works seems to be his life. She wants the connection and loving affection from the man she is going to marry, but instead she competes with his job. It’s hard for her to deal with, especially when she’s used to all sorts of drama in her life.
As with Diary of a Mad Fat Girl, Ace manages to get herself into quite a few comical situations, both by herself and her group of friends. Stephanie McAfee manages to create a character that is over-the-top, but at the same time down to earth and someone you wish was your best friend. Ace has her moments where you wonder why she is doing what she’s doing, but at heart she is a woman who is trying to find where she belongs and what makes her happy.
Diary of a Mad Fat Girl’s plus-sized spitfire Graciela “Ace” Jones returns in a hilarious new adventure from New York Times bestselling author Stephanie McAfee.

From now on, she’s going to be as sweet as sugar. Unfortunately, something comes along to sour her plans.
That something is Mrs. Lenore Kennashaw and her coterie of crones. But with the support of a new group of fabulous friends, as well as her friends from Bugtussle—and her always-faithful chiweenie Buster Loo—Ace will find a way to make it, even if she has to throw some weight around…
