In Fiance by Friday, Lady Gwendolyn Harrison moves to California to take over her sister-in-law’s matchmaking company. While she’s making matches for well to do clients, she’s pining away for her bodyguard, Neil MacBain. As the story unfolds we find Gwen and Neil both have feelings for each other, but Neil won’t ever make the move to claim Gwen. That is until someone from his Marine past tries getting his attention by using Gwen.
Gwen and Neil have known each other for many years. That is since Neil provided security services to her brother, Blake. But they hardly spoke to each other and when they did it generally had to do with a security concern, rather than a “get to know you” chat. That’s what made their quickie romance a little unbelievable. They may have known each other, but nothing that would have resulted in us believing their getting together was a love match.
I like the Raven mystery. The last 50 or so pages had me hooked and I didn’t want to put the book down. I had to know what Neil was going to discover and what that meant for the remaining members of his team.
Overall, not a bad read, but one that I did wish had a little bit more when it came to the romance between Neil and Gwen.
