Liz Beth was raised with stories of Quillon, the vampire who befriended her grandmother. She's always felt as if he was with her and protecting her no matter where she was or what she was doing. So when he summons her to New Orleans, she doesn't think twice about going. We follow Liz Beth as she searches New Orleans for information about Quillon and meets an intoxicating, mysterious stranger she can't seem to get enough of.
Liz Beth and Christen are combustible together. One does have to worry if their e-reader might catch on fire each time the two of these get near each other. Christen is mysterious and never available to Liz during the day (she often finds herself waking up alone), but Liz can never muster the anger long enough to have it out with Christen.
Quillon is an enigma to Liz Beth. He appears in her dreams and then suddenly appears in dark alleys or cloak rooms tempting her sexually. But he's often cold and calculating...not someone that you can imagine yourself in love with.
The backdrop to this story happening in New Orleans at Halloween was perfect for this love story between an ancient vampire looking for his true love.

She arrives in New Orleans the week of Halloween to search for the elusive vampire of her dreams and instead encounters a handsome stranger, Christien, with whom she begins a passionate affair with.
Soon she is torn between her dream lover and a flesh and blood man, both of whom are a mystery to her. The closer it gets to Halloween the wilder things become. LizBeth gets closer to the truth about Quillon while Christien has her under his own spell.
Will all be revealed at the Vampyre Ball or will the masks stay in place?
