Book 1

“Superposition” is about Jacob Kelly as he fights a murder conviction of an old friend. He is trying to find out who really killed his friend and why. Jacob is dragged through a rabbit hole after his old friend and coworker shows up at his house out of the blue. The rabbit hole gets deeper when Jacob Kelly finds out the reality he lives in is not all that there is and everything he thought he knew was a lie. In the end Jacob must find the true killer and discover the truth of his now turned upside down world.

Honestly this book was a bit confusing and it kept me from enjoying the story. I found many of the characters not interesting even Jacob Kelly himself, whom simply seems to be violent and not a true friend to Bryan at all. The characters run into issues here and there while they are trying to find out who killed Brian. We find out why he was so scared in the first place and what made him go to Jacob’s house in the first place including finding a creature that may or may not be a supernatural killer. I suppose I could relate to mother in the story that seems like she is out to kill her child but feels she is trying to save her. Honestly this is not very well explained. We don’t really know why she feels this because the story is told in the eyes of Jacob Kelly and it seems that he is very self-absorbed. He is more interested in his family and clearing his name than seeing it from her perspective and understanding what she is trying to do and why she is willing to go to such lengths.

Unfortunately, I did not like the book. I did want to because it seemed to be a very interesting concept. But it was just a bit confusing to me. I had to reread it a few times only to still miss some major points. I do recommend “Superposition” to someone that reads intelligent murder mysteries. Because I did not understand the subject matter of quantum physics, a lot of the novelist’s efforts were lost to me. If I could change one thing about this novel I think it would be to make it less complicated. I wish the writer the best of luck in his future writings and hope that I have another chance to read a book by him that I can better understand.

Book Blurb for Superposition

Book One of a Mind-Bending, Near-Future, Science Fiction Technothriller Duology.

Jacob Kelley's family is turned upside down when an old friend turns up, waving a gun and babbling about an alien quantum intelligence. The mystery deepens when the friend is found dead in an underground bunker…apparently murdered the night he appeared at Jacob's house. Jacob is arrested for the murder and put on trial.

As the details of the crime slowly come to light, the weave of reality becomes ever more tangled, twisted by a miraculous new technology and a quantum creature unconstrained by the normal limits of space and matter. With the help of his daughter, Alessandra, Jacob must find the true murderer before the creature destroys his family and everything he loves.
