"The Twelve Days of Dash & Lily" is a continuation of Dash and Lily's romance which began in the first book. However, while the first book had a lot of good feel moments, the first year of Dash & Lily's relationship hasn't been so sunny.
Lily's grandfather, who she is very close to, suffers a heart attack and it completely changes Lily. She is much more worried about her grandfather now, and she doesn't like to spend a lot of time away from him. She takes on a lot of responsibility in taking care of him during his recovery. But that also means she has been pulling away from Dash.
Dash doesn't know how to deal with this new Lily. He can't navigate their relationship without her guidance, and while they are approaching their one year anniversary and Lily's favorite time of the year (Christmas). Nothing is really going as planned. Dash doesn't get to spend that much time with Lily.
Lily's brother Langston approaches Dash with an idea. Lily has been ignoring the holiday season, but maybe if Dash can create a new festive adventure for them she will get back into the spirit of the season.
The book is a very quick read, it is short but it doesn't feel like it is missing anything. I don't think it would have been better by being expanded, it's the right length for the story. It is a quirky, and cute love story. However, it while it was cute, it didn't really wow me in the romance department. I didn't feel much beyond mild interest for the progression of their relationship. It didn't really feel like the same kind of story as the first book.
Overall, it was a quick, cute read that captured the holiday spirit. I recommend this for anyone who liked the first book or anyone who wants to read something to get them into the holiday spirit.
