“Moon Chosen” is the first book in a new series by P.C. Cast. The premise is very intriguing. Mari is an Earth Walker like her mother who gains healing abilities from the moon. Mari's mother is very important to the clan because she has to heal the men of their Fever every three days or else bad things happen. Companions are humans (they get their names by being chosen as a companion to a canine) and the enemies of Earth Walkers.
The beginning of the novel was very, very slow. The book while beautifully written did not hold my attention. Mari is supposed to be the heir to her mother, but she holds a deadly secret that she must keep from the rest of the Clan. But when something unfortunate happens Mari must give up her secret.
P.C. Cast is a very popular author and there are probably a lot of people who would enjoy this book. This book just wasn't for me. It is around 600 pages and I couldn't get past the first 200.
Overall it’s an interesting concept, but not for me.
