I wasn't sure how to review this book because although the storyline was thought out and good I didn't like the way Wade and his pack treated Noah. Noah wasn’t given a choice in the saying of anything and even though he was attracted to Wade it was still coercion in the love making parts of the book. I can't recommend this one on to others because of that situation.
When Noah was a toddler he fell from a window and was severely wounded. The pack wanted to give him mercy and end his life so Noah's family fled and entrusted Noah’s care to human doctors. Noah was kept on drugs to keep him from changing. His injuries left him in pain and unable to become his wolf. When the new pack Alpha comes to Noah's parents and demands Noah for his mate Noah has no choice but to obey and leave with Wade. Wade though won't allow Noah any of his medication or doctors. The pack healer takes over his care. It leaves Noah almost unable to function from the pain. Noah can't deny his attraction to Wade though and the two men slowly get to know each other. Noah finds out that Wade is using the circumstances of the injuries and care from the humans to get the pack to accept back into the pack others who are different. But Noah feels a little betrayed. Can Wade gain Noah’s trust and forgiveness or will Noah be left out in the cold?
Deadly poison...or exquisite cure?
Noah fell from an eighth story balcony as a toddler, cracking open his skull and shattering his body. The accident would've killed a human, but even shifter blood can't heal some damage. After the pack recommended a mercy killing, Noah's family ran. But there's no outrunning the mating pact formed before Noah's birth.
Wade, the new alpha, chooses an adult Noah to fulfill the pact. Wade believes the previous alpha was a fool to reject Noah as a weak and inferior wolf, but Noah's family was wrong to hide him and starve his wolf, too. Human doctors with human medicines are poison to shifter physiology. Now that Noah is fully grown, halting his shift to retain the pins, plates, and bars holding him together hurts rather than helps him, and for Wade, more than Noah's recovery is at stake.
Noah's family sacrificed everything to keep him alive. Noah will do whatever it takes to save them--including mate with the alpha who is determined to correct past mistakes and defeat old prejudices contaminating the shifter community.
Too bad some still believe Noah is the true poison...and should be culled from the pack for good.
