I had wondered what had happened to Reed and Trent from Rarer Then Rubies and when I found Italian Ice I found out in a good way. I enjoyed Italian Ice very much; Trent and Reed make for an interesting storyline to keep readers going. In the first book the attraction and suspense of their relationship had just started and with Italian Ice is just got better. The humor also added to the spice of the romance and suspense. I highly recommend this one for the suspense and humor as well as continuing the storyline from Rarer than Rubies. You have a very good read here.
A bit about the story:
When Trent and Reed are on vacation in Italy Reed is called into action for a short assignment. Reed though tries to keep it from Trent that he has to work during their vacation. When Trent finds out he's angry to begin with. Then he wants to help Reed complete his assignment. When things get to be more dangerous Reed tries to protect Trent by sending him to a safe house. Trent though isn't so safe there either and ends up on the island of Panarea with Reed after all. Both men find that they aren't chasing drug dealers as first thought, but chasing a more dangerous foe for something far more valuable.
Sequel to Rarer than Rubies
In this exciting sequel to Rarer Than Rubies, gay romance author Trent Copeland and former FBI agent Reed Action head to Italy for a Roman holiday. What should be a relaxing and romantic vacation is interrupted when Reed’s not-so-former boss asks for his help with a case. Trent's shocked to discover in the six months they’ve been living together in LA, Reed hasn’t been completely honest about his “retirement.”
Reed heads for Sicily on the trail of a suspected antiquities-smuggling ring and to find Peter Isett—a former FBI partner he also hasn’t been completely truthful about. Stung by Reed’s dishonesty, Trent questions what else Reed might be hiding. But when he overhears something that tells him Reed's life is in danger, Trent follows Reed to a remote chain of ancient volcanic islands off Sicily's northern coast. Soon Trent is caught up in the smugglers’ web, and Reed must decide between his heart and his mission—a decision complicated by his past with Peter. Reed’s position is perilous: unless he can learn to put the past behind him, he risks destroying everything he's built with Trent. 287 pages
