Death at First Sight

A Bay Island Psychic Mystery, #1

A good beginning to a new series. Death at First Sight is the first book in Lena Gregory's Bay island Psychic Mystery series.

This cozy mystery with paranormal elements took me a little while to connect to. At first I didn't mesh with the characters but I stuck with it and the story and characters soon bloomed on the page.

Cass Donovan is the local psychic in the tourist town of Bay Island. She's a local girl that recently returned to the area after leaving New York City where she had been a psychiatrist.

The book opens with Cass giving a reading to Ellie, a regular client who has a rough life with a cheating husband and overbearing mother. During the reading Cass feels that danger is near but she doesn't know what it is or how to warn Ellie.

Soon after the reading Ellie's crazy mom confronts and threatens Cass in the coffee shop- only to later turn up dead. Of course Cass is the prime suspect.

It's up to Cass and her cast of friends to solve this murder and clear Cass's name.

There's plenty of humor and suprises throughout the story to keep it fun and entertaining and I love the sassy characters including Beast the dog.

If you love cozies with paranormal elements add this series to your list.
