Blood Moon

Moon Series, Book 1

Blood Moon is A.W. Gryphon’s first book but it is scheduled to be the first of a trilogy. I hate to rip apart a writer and their work. It lacked depth; the characters were one dimensional and sometimes exaggerated. It was all a very cliché look into the world of Wicca and witchcraft. It didn’t hold my attention and it lacked action. The storytelling was just that telling, no showing, and no excitement.
The main character, Amelia, lives a life without magic after her high priestess mother was murdered in front of her when she was seven during a big Wiccan gathering. She leads a tragic life watching everyone she loves die right in front of her all orchestrated by the evil “men in black suits” that watch every aspect of her life.
I wanted this book, I had read a lot about it so finally I received the review copy and started reading it…then I stopped. I am a huge fan of the paranormal, a big witchy magic aficionado and this book totally did not do it for me. Very disappointing. The whole book read like a back-story prologue. Total voice over through the whole book, no real anything. The wording, the tone, everything was off. Also, the blurb on the back of the book was nothing like the book. You think Scotland Yard’s Denny Carlisle is going to be a main character but he’s not even brought into the book until about half way through. I’m sorry if you put a character on the blurb -the story damn well better be about them, but it’s not it’s about Amelia.
It had a lot of positive reviews but mine won’t be one of them. I just can’t recommend this book.

London, England. Mysterious. Beautiful. Full of legends and lore. It is home and a safe place for Amelia Pivens Kreutzer. And for Scotland Yard's Denny Carlisle, on All Hallows Eve, when the Full Blood Moon reaches its highest point in the sky, it will become a city of awe and mayhem as the most powerful witch in modern history rises to avenge her lost love and forever end the ancient war among the witches and those who hunt them.
